How do I ensure that students meet standards - and meet enough of them to make the effort worthwhile - in open-ended activities and projects?
Certainly, whole class discussions are a limited way to ensure that students are adequately meeting standards. However, formal and informal assessments are necessary in determining student comprehension of standards. To determine standard proficiencies for open-ended activities and for projects, student growth is evidenced through use of rubrics.
